People here in the Fifth Congressional District of Wisconsin are feeling quite well, despite our lack of mountains, tropical beaches and more mountains. While residents of Utah, Hawaii and Wyoming were rated as “happiest” states in the poll, the highest ranking state (Utah) had an average score of 69.2 out of a possible 100 on the survey. Wisconsin’s Fifth Congressional (that’s us, in case you’re confused) had an average score of 69.9. This is 15th out of the nation’s 435 congressional districts. As a comparison, cross 124th street to Milwaukee’s Fourth Congressional and they were 383 out of 435. Wisconsin, as a whole, scored 65.9 or 24th amongst the states. Now go feel good about yourself.

Well dat was some slippery roads, eh? I was driving east on Main Street approaching Griffin Ford and attempted to change lanes in preparation for going east on Moreland. When I hit the snow piled up in between lanes, I just kept turning and did a 270° loop. I ended up facing into the other lane. Fortunately everybody stopped in time and I didn’t hit anything and no one hit me. I was quickly on my way.
Curiously, my pulse didn’t even change during the spin because it was in slow motion. I do remember thinking I was going to ruin that nice new suspension I had put in and wondering why there weren’t any other cars about to hit me, but since I appeared to have just spun on top of the snow and didn’t even clip the curb, the car seems no worse for wear. Must have scared the bejeesus out of a guy with a new Cadillac in the next lane, though. Sorry.
