A recession/depression, a Democratic President who tries to spend us out of it and thereby promotes a massive increase in the size and scope of the federal government while meanwhile in Europe, a facist politician backed by a black-shirted paramilitary with a funny symbol on their red and white arm bands takes over a government in a legal election. What century is this?
Here’s a partial list of the taxes raised Saturday, to the best of my understanding, by the Democratic Party so far in the Joint Finance Committee in Madison helpfully provided by Greg Bump at the WisPolitics Budget Blog. Remember that a fee or fine raised or created is a rise in taxes:
- Non-profits will have to pay more for background checks.
- They more than doubled the “tipping fee” (what it costs for your garbage truck to dump its load at the landfill) which is ultimately paid by property tax payers.
- Forced county tax payers to “provide the non-federal portion of MA payment for MA eligible inpatient hospital services provided at mental health institutes”, like Medota or Winnebago. Better not have too many crazy people in Waukesha County.
- Fines pharmacists who don’t give out birth control drugs or devices.
- Raised the cost of your health insurance by requiring companies to cover dependents up to 27 years old. Get a job.
- Raised the cost of doing business in Wisconsin.
Michelle Malkin reveals what Nancy Pelosi knew about enhanced interrogation and when she knew it. Which is good, because it gives me a reason to post this poster:

I want them and I want them now. The comments on the article are a hoot as well.
Hey Wausau, the Labor Department says that you have the highest concentration of private insurance workers in the U.S. and Wisconsin has the 5th most among states. All you insurance worker bees ought to be interested in this little tidbit hoisted from the Drudge Report in which a Democratic congresswoman openly admits to supporters that the aim of Obama’s health care plan is to destroy private health insurance. They plan to do to Wausau what they did to Janesville: destroy an industry.
In the beginning of a left-wing purge of political “Enemies of the State”, the U.S. Justice Department raids the offices of Maricopa County (AZ) Sheriff Joe Arpaio.
Rightwing (sic) extremism in the United States can be broadly divided into those groups, movements, and adherents that are primarily hate-oriented (based on hatred of particular religious, racial or ethnic groups), and those that are mainly antigovernment (sic), rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority, or rejecting government authority entirely. It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration. – Department of Homeland Security, Office of Intelligence and Analysis: “Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment” 7 April 2009
Since I am mainly anti-government and:
- I believe that the Waukesha School Board knows, or should know, what would be best for Waukesha students, so the Department of Education should be abolished and
- I believe that the Waukesha Common Council and its 40-person Leaf Committee can best answer the question to bag or not to bag and we don’t need the Environmental Protection Agency’s Federal Office on Fall Leaf Pick-up to tell us what the answer should be and
- I believe that if the sign on the door says “Nice Ash Cigar Bar”, then you have no right to expect that the air within will be smoke-free and the State of Wisconsin has no right to say that there should be no smoking allowed within the confines of a private business and
- I believe the Bill of Rights should be strictly interpreted when it says “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.” That this federal government, for the past sixty years, has over-stepped its power and should be restrained by the people.
Therefore, I am a dangerous man.
Another federal judgeship opens in western Wisconsin.
In a stunning endorsement, the Wisconsin State Journal endorsed independent Rose Fernandez for Wisconsin Superintendent of Public Instruction over the Doyle/WEAC candidate Tony Evers. This is wonderful news for the Waukesha County resident’s campaign and good news for all parents who believe that there’s a better way to run schools in Wisconsin than the party line.
After years of railing about political correctness in Liberals, I’m disappointed by some of my fellow Conservatives’ aghast response to Obama’s “Special Olympics” joke on Leno. What’s good for the goose, as they say.
Addition: OK, after listening to a little Charlie Sykes, I should add that anyone who works with or a has a special needs child can be offended, but no one else. Also, Yes I know what would happen if George W would have said something like this and No the criticism wouldn’t be right then either.
I should mention that in my old job we often worked with severely retarded children every day and we nick-named our copy machine “Troy” because it was slow and often had physical problems, like all the boys named Troy in the institutions we served. It didn’t mean we cared any less about the kids.
Diamond Jim Doyle is envious. Look at what Illinois’ new governor has in store for its citizens.
