Fat Tuesday Dispatches

Jim Doyle and the Wisconsin Legislature
Hello hello is there anybody in there? Just nod if you can hear me. Is there anyone home? I can’t believe I’m the only one who is apparently concerned with Jim Doyle going to Spain. Who’s going with him besides his commerce and administration secretaries? Who’s paying for this trip to sunny EspaƱa in cold, cold February here in Wisconsin? What happened to “Buy American”?
No results found for “American producer of passenger rail cars”. Oh.
Still, Associated Bank was lambasted and had to cancel a planned trip to Puerto Rico because the bank had accepted a half-billion dollars of federal government bail-out money which is fine but Wisconsin is projected to receive about nine billion in what is being used as federal bail-out money and no one except me sees an incongruity. Have you become comfortably numb to Doyle’s spending or do you dance to Doyle’s tune, like monkeys on a string?
- This was a busy weekend for the Waukesha police, according to the blotter. This apartment building on Pewaukee Road has a terrible reputation as well.
- Darryl talks about the Carroll College neighborhood.
- Buy-Seasons adds more jobs to Waukesha County. Isn’t this the company which Milwaukee didn’t want?
- In other business news, Oconomocians, Oconomocons, Oconomowoc residents are being asked to drum up some business for a local restaurant. Go. Eat. Oriental food is meant to be shared.
- News which will kill a restaurant happened to Heaven City employees.
- Closing the DNR office on Hwy 59 would eliminate a rite of Spring for me which goes back 20 years. I always got my State Park sticker and fishing license there. Then again, I don’t think I’ve been fishing in five years and the only state park I visit these days is the forest.
- Curt Otto posts about the stimulus.
- Letters to the Editor on a number of topics.
- Fat Tuesday Sound Off.
- Part One of a two-part series on Waukesha Street names by John Schoenknecht. Why do you live where you live?

You must be looking in the wrong place. This one was just in the “A” part of the list.

Or you can go green, and recycle some of the old stuff…

In regards to the lighting situation I think you have an error. It’s Carroll University. I thought you’d have had that down by now. But I digress. I’m hoping I get to put Carroll College on my diploma. The seniors get to do it this year why can’t I? I started when it was called Carroll College!
I agree on the light situation. Some of my female friends have been followed on numerous occasions. And with 1 campus safety vehicle driving around I can’t imagine anyone feeling safe. It’s a shame that our fair city has such sinister characters lurking about.
“Jim Doyle and the Wisconsin Legislature”
Ya mean Larry Nelson and his administration?
The duodecahedron has many sides.
