It’s cloudy and dark again. No more rain. Please no more.
- Probably the most impressive lightning strikes of the past week were last night. Some real house-rattlers. Poor Watson’s going to get ulcers if the storms don’t stop. Losses are mounting across the county. Just when the basement had dried out, I got a trickle from the corner.
- Bethesda Park is swamped. The corn crop is swamped. Trees are in danger. What a mess.
- I’m not a Doyle supporter, as you know, but my problem with his golfing was not that he played golf during an emergency. He was never out of contact with cell phones and Blackberries, et al. What I don’t like the fact the he’s raising money for an election campaign, when he hasn’t even announced he would be running again. Plus he was doing it during the work week, during the work day. Most of the people who vote for him can’t take off to go golfing during the week.
- A Freeman reporter goes on a Saturday ride-along with the Waukesha police. What bar has 200 people in it at closing time?
- Sound Off callers bash Freeman columnist Tim Schilke, whom I don’t read because he’s a bonehead with thin skin. Blog Fox Head is no Schilke fan either.
- I’ll be interested to see how this turns out: the local convention bureau has hired someone whose job will be “to solicit new sporting tournaments and events for the area.”
- Chuck E Cheese is giving up its liquor license. Now they have to keep people from carrying it in, drinking in the parking lot and using drugs in the bathrooms. In a children-friendly pizza place. Yipes.
- Another bad liberal idea exposed as a fraud.
- Go adopt a pet.
- Finally, from the June 12th Daily Record of Ellensburg, WA police blotter:
Search and rescue was called to find two lost men in their 40s in the Whiskey Dick Canyon area.
