Wigderson for School Superintendent

Get out of town. The school board has been told that the next superintendent of Waukesha Public Schools is going to be more expensive than outgoing Dave Schmidt because Wisconsin has become a “virtual desert” for superintendents. If you offered Dave Schmidt’s salary to blogger James Wigderson, I bet he’d take the job. Or Chris Lufter, how about Chris Lufter? I’d take it, but you’d probably want me to work more than twice per week.

Here’s Wigderson’s column, by the way.

  • You would be perfect for the job. I think all they do is look outside early in the morning in the winter & decide if there will be school or a snow day.

  • I understood the reasoning for this price of a new super. They want a CEO class person to run the waukesha schools. What I think they need is a conservative, someone who knows what to spend money on to continue to teach your kids, not public relations like the paid consultants recommended to the board. I would be understanding if this was an $80,000 job, but no more. question: What is the requirements for being on the school board? In my eyes business experience (and success) should be more important than having been employed in education. The same for being a super.

  • The candidate who comes to WSD must come here for the right reasons.Money alone, will not keep someone here. They must love a challenge, have experience, and like this community. They must be self-motivated, ambitious, and be good at making decisions for short and long-term plans. We may need to pay a little more to get someone here ASAP, and/or someone with a solid background in education and financial planning.
