Tuesday Morning Burnt Toast and Coffee Time
March 4, 2008
Daylight savings time starts this weekend because Congress thought we were wasting time by getting up after the sun rose. They wanted it dark when we got up. I blame the Democrats. They don’t like sunshine, they prefer gloom. No candidate yet has told me what’s right with America. I miss Ronald Reagan.
Remember to tell your friends and co-workers that it’s “Spring Back/ Fall Forward” and see what time they show up for work on Monday.
- JS Online is reporting Brett Favre is retiring. It will be covered like the death of a President.
- A successor to Alderman LaPorte will be chosen this evening. Mayor Larry “Nelson said all the applicants went through a background check, something he established after problems surfaced with an appointee in May 2006. Glenn Savoie resigned within days of being appointed to the council to represent District 6 when officials learned of his past convictions for soliciting prostitution.”
- Two years later and the Freeman still won’t admit that the reason that officials learned of his past convictions is that the Chronicle did the research and printed the story which the officials read. Say what you will about the Journal, at least they gave me credit.
- A ticket for failure to yield was issued to the driver of the car in which a Waukesha West student died. The driver will have the memory of what she did wrong forever.
- Sharkeys is in trouble again.
- Lest anyone think all gang members are black or Hispanic.
- Fred Dooley at Real Debate Wisconsin tells us that the State of Wisconsin is about to shaft you again if you own a home.
- Rotary Club’s Bluesfest is coming back with a more reasonable ticket price, especially since parking is free. I still miss Riverfest.
- Sound Off includes a graduate of Barstow School (as am I, my sister and my mother) reminiscing about winters past. Also someone who thinks sheriff’s deputies shouldn’t eat when there’s bad weather.

I believe Grandma Emma & Grandpa Frank went to Barstow School when it was called Park School.
That person in the Freeman must be old. I think hamburgers were a quarter when McDonald’s opened, and they didn’t have a fire in the warming shack by the time I got there.
